TOS-1

Description

The TOS-1 is a devastating Russian artillery system introduced in 1988. Based on the venerable T-72 tank chassis it sports a multiple rocket launcher capable of firing 24 or 30 220mm unguided rockets instead of a turret. The rockets fired by the TOS are usually thermobaric fuel-air explosives capable of incinerating a 200 meter by 400 meter area with a single volley. In addition to the thermal blast, the intense overpressure is lethal against personnel taking cover, rupturing lungs, bursting eardrums and causing severe concussion.

Whilst a devastating artillery weapon the TOS is indiscriminate and likely to cause significant collateral damage. PRIMAL/Lascar weapons platforms favor non-lethal or precision effects over thermobaric and plasma weapons.
