Aerostat

Description

A futuristic successor to the blimp, the aerostats used by Sakkin are flying forward operating bases (FOB). Their near-unlimited endurance and heavy payload make them suited to support counter-insurgency and security operations. However their lack of maneuverability means they would have limited survivability in front-line combat against a peer adversary. This is partially mitigated by a sophisticated laser close in defense system capable of neutralizing threats from missiles and rockets.

PRIMAL Assessment

The Sakkin aerostat is a formidable threat to ground forces. They contain highly effective persistent surveillance systems, guided weapons, and the ability to deploy vertjets carrying Sakkin operatives and mechops. In a conventional warfare setting however, they are best suited to rear area security operations as they can be targeted with the latest hypersonic missiles and rail gun munitions. In a civilian role, Lascar have used aerostats as long range transporters and humanitarian relief bases. With some modifications these airships could also support PRIMAL operatives on covert missions.
