An old transport aircraft design from the 1950s, the An-12 is a popular choice for cheap airfreight in third world countries.

PRIMAL Assessment:

Unfortunately the old design of the An-12 means it has failed to meet the air safety standards of a number of aviation authorities and has been banned from airports in Dubai and Singapore. No doubt the An-12 will continue to fly in more 'relaxed' countries in places like Africa and the former Soviet states.
