AN-72

Description:

The Antonov 72 is a medium sized transport aircraft designed specifically for short take-off and landing. Its jet engines blow exhaust gasses over the wings to increase lift and its robust undercarriage and large tires allow it to operate on rudimentary landing strips.

PRIMAL Assessment:

The PRIMAL variant of the An-72, known as 'Jumper', has been modified with a drogue parachute and rocket-assisted take off (RATO) pods to further reduce the landing and takeoff distances.
