JSTARS

Description

Officially known as the ‘E-8 Joint STARS’, the JSTARS is a pimped out Boeing 707 with a sophisticated ground surveillance radar. Originally designed to detect divisions of Soviet tanks as they rolled across the plains of Europe to squash NATO, the JSTARS have been adapted to assist in counter-insurgency and border control.

PRIMAL Assessment

PRIMAL does not have a comparable capability. When active, JSTARS poses a significant threat to ground and sea based operatives. It’s powerful surveillance radar and change detection software are cable of detecting ‘out of the ordinary’ movements. Passive sensors are able to detect JSTARS and provide early warning allowing exfil from the area or the use of defensive measures.
