M240L

Description

The M240L is the lightweight version of the US military’s standard M240 machine gun. It utilizes a titanium receiver, a shorter barrel, and a collapsible stock to drop from 28 to 22 pounds. Like the standard M240 it is a reliable 7.62mm belt-fed weapon with a removable barrel that facilitates a continued high rate of fire.

PRIMAL Assessment

All M240s are excellent crew-served machine guns.  However, even the ‘lightweight’ variant is not optimal as an individual weapon. PRIMAL operatives prefer the MK48, also a 7.62mm weapon, as it is lighter at 18 pounds.
