T-55

Description

When the T-55 was introduced in 1955 it was the most formidable main battle tank in existence. One of the first tanks to have stabilized armament, and wielding a 100mm cannon, it forced Western forces to rethink their designs. It is the most produced tank of all time with over a hundred thousand built.

PRIMAL Assessment

Despite their age T-55s still appear in conflict zones around the world. Not to be underestimated, the T-55 can still be a game-changer on the battlefield. Many are upgraded with newer technologies such as computerized fire control systems and add-on reactive armor. The T55’s primary weaknesses include their relatively light armor and limited crew visibility. They are susceptible to modern anti armor weaponry and can be effectively blinded by smoke.
